“Why would you put drugs in candy? I just want there to be a lot more awareness surrounding this.”

Ellen Snelling, Board Chairperson with the Hillsborough County Anti-Drug Alliance is familiar with how easy a teenager can go from “innocent” substance use of tobacco and alcohol to harder drugs. In her experience in the Drug Prevention field, she’s made it her mission to raise awareness and encourage policy change around products containing drugs, marketed to look like candy or energy drinks, being sold in convenience stores.

These products are dangerous to children, are widely unregulated, and can lead to larger substance abuse problems.
