Kayla’s #WhenYouKnow Story

“ It’s never too late. And if I was speaking to somebody who knows an addict and is looking for a way to help somebody then I would tell them don’t enable. Let that rock bottom be their rock bottom and don’t give up on somebody. You cannot give up on somebody and be there for them without enabling them.”

“ In that moment, that was my wake up call. I felt so hopeless,  so helpless, like I couldn’t do anything for any of my kids.”

Kayla Williams’s journey started when she was 14. As is common with many struggling with substance abuse, she could get sober, but it never lasted long. Eventually, she ended up facing jail time, and after losing custody of all of her children, she received devastating news about one of her children…she hit her rock bottom.

From there, she did everything she could to make the right choices, take steps to live a healthy lifestyle, and get back on her feet–all in hopes of getting her children back, even when she was told it was a long-shot. Kayla’s glimmer of hope was someone who advocated for her, encouraged her, prayed for her and told her that her children were waiting for her.
